A bump on the head sends 20th century mechanic Hank Martin (Bing Crosby) to Arthurian Britain, 528 A.D., where he is befriended by Sir Sagramore le Desirous (William Bendix) and gains power by judicious use of technology. He and Alisande (Rhonda Fleming), the King’s niece, fall in love at first sight, which draws unwelcome attention from her fiancĂ©e Sir Lancelot (Henry Wilcoxon); but worse trouble befalls when Hank meddles in the kingdom’s politics.
A highlight of the film is the scene in which Hank Martin teaches the court musicians how to “jazz up” the medieval music they are playing.
Released in 1949. Technicolor, 106 minutes.
