Celebrate Silent Movie Day with us! September 29 started out as a national observance of the origins of cinema, but is quickly gaining a worldwide audience. This year, C5 Classic Cinema is hosting a special event of silent film at our home theater – the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall.
Starting at 6:30p, the program will open with Pixar’s award winning animated short from 2018, Bao. Then we move to some of the earliest silent short films by Georges Méliès. In honor of the current poster exhibit at the Brewery Arts Center, we’ll show The Hilarious Posters, from 1906, followed by Méliès’ most popular work, A Trip to the Moon (1902). The feature film of the night will be Buster Keaton in 1926’s The General, with live piano accompaniment and Foley sound effects!
