
Based on Ernest Hemingway’s novel, Spencer Tracy is a Cuban fisherman who has gone 84 days without a catch. When he finally hooks a huge marlin, he spends three days in a trial of mental and physical courage that becomes the ultimate test for him of his worth as a man.
The film is best known for the cinematography and the scenes of Cuban villages and the colorful coast.
